Tents & Enclosures

These rudimentary configurations in bronze and clay explore architectonic structure and enclosure. They illustrate flux states, suggesting structures either in formation or coming apart. The bronzes, not cast in editions, are unique lost-wax castings that were formed with malleable wax in a variety of working states. The patinas, likewise, are unique to each piece. The ceramic pieces were made from pliant, highly grogged stoneware, sometimes with small additions of oxide colorants in the clay body. They were fired in a variety of ways, from oxidation to a salt kiln that yielded a slight gloss and flame patterns.
